Racism Exposed
The jibe ‘racist' has served Left Liberals well since it was introduced after the second world war riding on the back of the German atrocity known as the Holocaust. The words fascist, Holocaust and racist came to be inextricably linked in the public mind. Generations of indigenous Britons became terrified of being stigmatized as racist. Even today when the term, although often used, has lost much of its potency you will hear people prefacing remarks by saying "I am not a racist but".
In order to understand how and why this term of abuse came so powerfully into common currency it is necessary to consider who Left Liberals are and what is their motivation.
The end of the war in 1945 saw the election of the first meaningful Labour Government and the arrival in the Westminster Parliament of the first party in power which was essentially Marxist in ideology. Although members of the Labour Party denied any connection with Communism, insofar as there was an ideology, it was indistinguishable from Marxism. It had been intellectually fashionable before the war to espouse the philosophy of Karl Marx. Indeed, as I well know, not to follow that path was to be considered downright unintelligent. Socialism as it was called had been elevated to the level of a science.
Not only those who became ministers in the Attlee Government were affected by the lure of scientific socialism which seemed to have the answer to everything. Many of the teachers and lecturers in the universities were similarly affected and it was there that the ideology was developed and propagated, as well as in such organizations as the Fabian Society. People like George Bernard Shaw gave the movement intellectual respectability. A famous group of spies is on record as having its origin in Cambridge and a famous historian at Balliol is suspected of having been a recruiter.
Bit by bit however stories began to circulate which gave the lie to the idea of a workers' paradise which had been created by the Communist Party in Russia. Eventually it came to be seen as the ruthless dictatorship that it was. Those who had swallowed the propaganda line began to distance themselves from Russia although they maintained the Marxist view of the world and when the Soviet Union collapsed that was too much. Left Liberal sounded so much more benign and respectable than Marxist.
The Marxist/Left Liberal view of the world has some distinct characteristics which infest all political parties save one to such an extent that differences between the main parties are mostly cosmetic. It is not only the political elite however which espouses this ideology. It also infests the BBC, the Press, the Teaching profession, in fact every aspect of public life
Left Liberals are internationalists. They promote globalisation. For that to work efficiently 'the workers of the world' must be seen as one body whose members can be moved around as the global economy dictates. National boundaries are an obstacle. That is why we have seen the development of entities such as the European Union and similar regional groupings around the world all aimed at breaking down national barriers.
That has been the utility of the term racist in Britain. It enabled opposition to immigration to be inhibited. The aim was to destroy the homogeneous population in the British Isles which had stood together to defeat Hitler and might stand together to defeat globalization. So effective has the term racist been that Left Liberals have been able to insert large alien communities into areas of Great Britain and particularly in London. Great Britain is no longer a homogeneous society with commonly held beliefs and loyalties. It has become a collection of separate communities occupying the same territory with all the disputes over territory which will emerge in the long run.
Immigrants are essential to the economy we are told. One has only to look at the staff of a hospital to see the extent to which this has become so. Never mind that there is a chronic shortage of housing. Never mind that as well as talent they bring knife crime, gun crime, drug crime, prostitution on a commercial scale, diseases that had been eradicated, social instability and disregard for the law of the land at every level. The demands of the economy are paramount.
Few, I think, would dispute that there should exist equality before the law. Left Liberals take egalitarianism to extremes. All men are equal in their view and have equal rights whether they were born in Nigeria, Somalia, Portugal or wherever. Strikes by oil refinery workers in Lincolnshire and elsewhere demanding recognition of the principle ‘British jobs for British workers' are seen as an outrage; xenophobic, which is another of their pet terms of abuse.
Not only that but in the realm of education, for example, they consider all children to be equal and the difference between those in a sink estate and those in a middle class suburb is mainly a matter of educational opportunity. The present Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, subscribes to a view that if the same amount is spent on the children in the sink estate as is spent on pupils in private schools the difference is likely to disappear.
They would consider as outrageous a view which said that bright parents who tend to pair and who are likely to be better paid tend to have bright children, whereas the unbright who also tend to pair and who on the whole are not so well paid tend to have unbright children. Such innate differences they refuse to countenance.
None of this precludes the possibility of a very talented child being born to the unbright and any education system worthy of its salt would identify that talent and nurture it, which is a role once performed by the grammar schools destroyed in an egalitarian frenzy.
This sort of thinking as well as cult advantage is behind the desire first expressed during the premiership of Tony Blair to get 50% of the population into University regardless of ability. Mickey Mouse subjects any of that 50% were capable of studying they would emerge suitably moulded and prepared for a world in which Left Liberalism aka Marxism is the accepted political philosophy. A practical consequence of the all pervading presence of Left Liberals is that democracy is stultified. There is much talk of democracy and the right to vote but politics is a charade. Government of the people by the people for the people is dead.
Such is the common ground between the parties that only those issues which they choose get an airing. The views of the public, where they conflict, are, by consensus, ignored. Any politician who breaks ranks and expresses a view commonly held amongst ordinary citizens is sure to be denounced and vilified as Enoch Powell was and is, and as the British National Party now is. They will routinely be accused of fascism, racism and extremism and these accusations will dutifully be repeated over and over again by all the organs of the media. Is it any wonder that people generally are bewildered and certainly rendered impotent. Such is the lamentable state of their education that they have no firm ground on which to stand.
Perhaps the most shameful effect of consensus politics is the denial of self determination as a principle. It is fine for Kurds or Iraqis or Indonesians or whoever but not for the indigenous population of the British Isles unless they happen to be Scots or Welsh, and in any case recognition of their rights helps to destroy the United Kingdom. The English have seen the integrity of their country destroyed by people whom they elected to serve their interests. In the census form and official forms generally they are denied the right to be recognized in the same way that Scots, Welsh or Irish are. They have been lumped into a European Union which they despise and do not want and are specifically denied any say in the matter, as witness the flat refusal to hold a promised referendum on the Lisbon Treaty. The political elite knows that the outcome for them would be most embarrassing and unacceptable. From their point of view it is less damaging to deny the vote than ignore the result.
Those who have to deal with the consequences of policy are beginning to recognize difficulties. The damage having been done, timid steps allegedly aimed at controlling immigration are being proposed. The real policy is revealed however in actual legislation particularly surrounding asylum seeking. The whole concept is designed to facilitate immigration and, it is hoped, to engender sympathy for the new arrivals. It is mostly fraudulent. People desperately seeking sanctuary from persecution can find it without travelling half way round the world to get to Britain.
Most revealing is the law which prevents an immigrant, legal or otherwise, from being deported if they have taken the precaution to destroy any documents of identity. Such a person cannot be deported until such time as it has been established what his country of origin is which may be difficult or impossible.
Not without significance is the fact that in time immigrants acquire voting rights and it is a fact of life that even in a pseudo democracy politicians seek votes.
Few words, combinations of words or phrases, can have had such devastating consequences as fascist, racist and extremist. The only comparable combination that comes to mind is Liberté, Égalité, Faternité from the French Revolution. When all sources of information and teaching are imbued with these ideas it is difficult to see what catalyst can bring about their repudiation.
